Privacy Policy — Driftless
In short: Driftless does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. It has no account, no analytics, and no tracking. Everything you configure stays in your own browser.
What Driftless does
Driftless is a website blocker and focus timer that runs entirely inside your browser. When blocking is active, it checks main-frame navigation events against your own block list and redirects matching sites to a calm, built-in block page. It also runs focus sessions (25, 50, or 90 minutes) and a daily schedule for work hours.
Data we collect
None. Driftless does not collect personal data, does not use analytics or tracking tools, does not contact any server, and does not read the contents of web pages.
Data stored on your device
Driftless stores only the following in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage), on your device:
- Your block list (up to 30 sites in the free version)
- Your schedules and focus-session settings
- Temporary bypass permissions
- Your preferences
- Block counters (how many times a site was blocked)
This data never leaves your browser. It is not uploaded to Driftless or to any third-party server.
How blocking checks work
When you visit a website, Driftless processes the page address locally to extract its domain and compare it with your block list. Navigation addresses are handled temporarily in browser memory for these checks only. Driftless does not save your browsing URLs or browsing history to local storage, and it does not transmit them anywhere.
Permissions used
- storage — to save your block list, schedules, and settings locally.
- alarms — to run focus-session timing checks and refresh the extension badge when a session ends.
- activeTab — to read the domain of the tab you are on when you click the extension icon, so one-click blocking can add the current site.
- webNavigation — to listen for main-frame navigation events and decide whether a navigation matches your block list.
Driftless contains no remote code. No data is sent to any remote server at any time.
Data sharing and sale
Driftless does not sell or transfer user data to any third party for any purpose beyond the approved use described above. Driftless does not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to the extension's single purpose, and does not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
Free version and Pro
The free version of Driftless blocks up to 30 sites and includes focus sessions and a daily schedule. A Pro version with additional features (such as unlimited sites, per-site schedules, block history and statistics, password lock, and sync across devices) may be offered later. No pricing is promised on this page, and this policy will be updated before any feature that involves data leaving your device is introduced.
Children
Driftless is a general-purpose productivity tool. It does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children, because it collects no data at all.
Changes to this policy
If how Driftless handles data changes in the future, this page will be updated and the effective date above will be revised.
